Welcome to the official website of Glasgow HF Outdoor Club ( Founded 1917 ).

We are a walking and hillwalking club which has been in continuous existence for over 90 years. The club was started as many others were at that time, as a reaction to the very unhealthy industrial conditions of city living.

The club has no political or religious affiliations of any kind, and all are welcome to join.

The club membership is currently around 230, and we walk almost every weekend throughout the year, Saturdays and Sundays.

The usual turnout for any particular walk/climb is about 8 to 15 members, on each of the three walk/climbs, which are organised every weekend, with an arranged leader for every trip. Members cars are used for transport, with car space being maximised to keep costs down.

We also have bus trips from October to March, as well as occasional Saturday bus trips . There are also organised weekend trips for the three major annual public holidays, usually staying at SHYA hostels, though some members and friends may prefer staying at B&B instead.
