A number of places are still available on the National Lottery “Awards for All” funded courses. These courses are: Map Reading Winter Skills Walking Group Leader First Aid There has been little interest in the Navigation course to date. This course is aimed at beginners and would be suitable for those new to walking, or with limited map reading experience. 1. Course: First Aid Run by: Anniesland College (www.anniesland.ac.uk) What’s involved: 12 classes, Thursday evenings 7 – 9pm, Jan. to March 2009. Exam at end of course – pass gives you Certificate in First Aid. Other possibilities: 1 day course provided by a walking organisation. St. Andrew’s Ambulance run course at local HQ. 2. Course: Map Reading Skills Run by: C-N-Do Scotland (www.cndoscotland.com) What’s involved: 1 weekend, non-residential, at C-N-Do base in Stirling. Spring 2009. Level 1 National Navigation Award. Other possibilities: Training by HF members, evenings at Woodside Halls. 3. Course: Winter Skills Run by: C-N-Do Scotland (www.cndoscotland.com) What’s involved: Fri evening to Sun afternoon, residential, at Cairngorm Lodge. 2 evenings talks, 2 days practical instruction. Accommdation, meals (except 1st evening) covered. Feb/March 2009. Course is non-certificated. Other possibilities: 1 day, non-residential, as near to Stirling as conditions allow. 4. Course: Walking Group Leader Run by:C-N-Do Scotland (www.cndoscotland.com) What’s involved: 3-4 days (possibly incl. weekend), non-residential, in Stirling. Spring 2009. Course would be non-certificated. Other possibilities: Certificated course, assessment & other costs due by members.
