Synopsis of minutes of committee meeting held on Wednesday 22nd October 2008 in Woodside Halls, Glasgow.

Present: Tom Addie (Chair), William Radziwonik, Moya Taylor, Stephen Thomson, John Moore, John Barrowman, Sue Swinson, Jim Cassidy, Maisie McCrae.

  • Awards for All: There are spaces left on FREE courses for Winter Skills, First Aid, Walking Group Leader – if you are interested contact Stephen Thomson on 0141-569-9513 or email: stephen.thomson40@ntlworld.com before 15th November 2008.

  • Two Way Radios: The club now has 3 sets of two way radios if you would like to use them when you are leading a walk, contact Stephen.

  • Munro Sub Committee: On what we record as a ‘climbed summit’ was agreed as follows. “Essentially, this has to be a Munro where someone has volunteered to lead such walk PRIOR to them setting out on the day. Some flexibility will be required because regard will have to be made to the prevailing weather conditions and also any potential and unforeseen access problems to the hill which has been programmed. SO, for example, at the Glen Nevis weekend if the weather had been poor it was decided to do Beinn Teallach rather than Ben Nevis, Beinn Teallach would be recorded as having been climbed”.

  • Buses: Sunday 5th October was the first bus of the Winter Programme. A good weather forecast unfortunately did not result in a good attendance – just 24 members turned out, resulting in a lost of £95. A good turnout for the next bus is crucial – put this date in your diary Saturday lst November 2008.

  • Social Event: The next event will be on Thursday 6th November from 6.30pm onwards in Wetherspoons, 103 Bothwell Street, Glasgow.

  • AGM: It was agreed to change the format of the AGM. The business part will be first and should take at most 30minutes as all papers will be posted on the website. Hard copies will be available for members on the night. This will be followed by cheese and wine. On a screen there will be an ongoing digital presentation of club photographs taken throughout the year. Date of AGM Tuesday 10th February 2009.

  • Petrol Prices: It was agreed to put the petrol contribution back to 25p per mile with the proviso that it may have to be increased again. The mileage contribution shall be set on a monthly basis, and posted on the website.

  • Date and time of next meeting: The next meeting takes place on Wednesday 10th December. If you have any items you wish discussed please speak to Maisie, Tom or any committee member.
